What to Expect in Fortnite Chapter 5: Bigger Changes, New Map, Modes, and Weapons

All eyes on Fortnite right now are looking backwards, returning to Chapter 1 with Fortnite OG. However, Fortnite Chapter 5 is coming up soon. The next season of Fortnite will be here in just a few weeks. We’ll see a brand-new map, loot, new mechanics, it’ll be a huge step forward for Fortnite. While it’s fun to look at the past of the game, Fortnite has to move forward. What can we expect from Fortnite Chapter 5?

Bigger Changes with Each New Chapter

Each new Chapter of Fortnite has made bigger changes than we get season to season. There’s the obvious major change, getting a new Fortnite Chapter 5 map. However, it isn’t just a new map. We’ll usually see a new host of weapons. Plus, additions to Fortnite mechanics. Chapter 2 saw fishing get added, we’ve gotten many more movement mechanics. Most recently we saw Augments come to the game in Chapter 4. We can probably expect something big to hit the game for Chapter 5.

What to Expect in Fortnite Chapter 5

While we’re still a little bit out from release, we know quite a bit about what’s coming with the new season for the game.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Map

One major leak for the upcoming season is the new map. This has leaked. It’s a terrain version of the map. Instead of containing POIs it more shows the general shape and biomes of the island. However, we have a decent look at what’s coming with the next update for the Fortnite map.

New Modes

One feature of Chapter 5 which has been widely discussed is the racing mode. This showed up in Fortnite leaks pretty early. It’s going to be a standalone mode where you race cars. It’s likely to be another vertical for Fortnite, alongside Battle Royale or Creative.

New Weapons in Fortnite Chapter 5

An area where we don’t know too much about Chapter 5 yet is the weapons! Epic has done a decent job of keeping upcoming guns relatively hidden. We’ll have to wait and see what’s coming when the update hits for this one.

Release Date

That’s what we’ve learnt about the game’s upcoming season, like the Fortnite Chapter 5 map. However, when will we see the content actually release? The release date is currently planned for December 2nd, or 3rd. There are some unknowns here.

The current Fortnite OG season will end on December 2nd. However, players are expecting us to go from OG straight to a black hole. That’s how Season X originally ended. It made the transfer between seasons the longest out of all Fortnite seasons. The last Black Hole had multiple days of down time. We might be locked out of the game for a few days again. While we can say the Fortnite Chapter 5 start date will be around December 2nd, we don’t know exactly when the new content will drop.
