Treyarch has confirmed that Black Ops 7 will not allow players to transfer previously unlocked skins, weapons, or Operators from Black Ops 6, marking a major shift in the series. Instead, players will begin fresh, with only Double XP tokens and Zombie-mode GobbleGums carrying over. Content from Black Ops 6 will remain usable in Warzone.
This reset is designed to give Black Ops 7 its own unique identity, ensuring every unlock feels fresh and new. While it may frustrate long-time players, the move aligns with trends in competitive gaming, where fresh challenges help keep the community engaged.
Alongside the progression overhaul, Treyarch is introducing stricter PC security measures, requiring TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot protocols. The open beta will kick off on October 2, 2025, for pre-order customers and Game Pass subscribers, followed by a full open beta from October 5 to 8, 2025.
For the Call of Duty esports scene, these changes mean competitors and fans alike will experience a clean slate heading into the next season, with new unlocks and strategies shaping the competitive landscape.
