QIWI’s history
QIWI was launched in 2008 by three individuals; Andrey Romanenko, Boris Kim, and Sergey Solonin. In 2012, four years after its formation, QIWI signed a global partnership agreement with VISA. That resulted in the introduction of a co-branded product, the Visa QIWI Wallet. The company then went public in 2013 and acquired CONTACT money transfer system in 2015. QIWI also bought rights to the software and brand of the banking services of Rocketband from Otkritie in 2017.
In 2021, QIWI's CEO announced their intent to continue dealing with online betting providers through a new unified center for accounting bet money. That was great news to all online punters for using this payment method, as it confirmed they would continue enjoying the conveniences and other benefits of the payment method.
